The Puxian Min (also known as Hinghwa) language is spoken by 2.6 million people and the Hinghwa Region (modern day Putian city and environs) is used as the main standard for writing this language. The Hinghwa Romanized script is known as Hing-hua̍ Báⁿ-uā-ci̍ (興化平話字).
Currently (as of July 17th, 2016), over 2,500 Chinese characters have been translated into the Puxian Min latin orthography. The translations (with credit given to User:唐吉訶德的侍從) are based upon the Romanised orthography adopted by American Methodist missionaries such as William N. Brewster since the 1890s.
